From the reviews, it’s clear that Max's of Burlingame excels in delivering dishes that tantalize the taste buds. Take, for instance, the firecracker shrimp and sausage, which left a lasting impression with its robust flavors. While some dishes may have room for improvement—as noted in the fish tacos—the overall quality and presentation of the food remain commendable. The restaurant's signature BBQ sliders have been praised for their smoky flavor, despite needing a touch more moisture to elevate them fully. Yet, this does not detract from the genuine enjoyment the dishes offer.
Breakfast lovers will find solace here too. Many reviewers speak highly of Max's breakfast offerings, with mentions of large portions and exceptional service adding to the welcoming experience. From classic contenders like the chicken Caesar wrap, which turned from a healthy choice to a culinary delight, to the rich dessert display that awaits you even if you're not planning to indulge, there’s something for everyone.
The dedicated staff, with mentions of bartenders like James, enhances the inviting environment, ensuring that each visit is not only about the food but also about the people you interact with. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite post-work or sitting down to savor a full meal with live music, Max's of Burlingame strives to make each moment special.

“ My hotel receptionist recommended I come here. I enjoyed sitting at the bar with my bartender, I wish I could remember his name though. My nachos were really good, my fish tacos need a little bit of work, the fish needs more flavor to it. I’m comparing that to the fish tacos. I got downtown by the water which were a solid 9 1/2 out of 10. And other tacos I’ve eaten around the country. The restaurant could definitely use an update, but when the band started playing and the local started coming and chatting with each other, the atmosphere did get better in the restaurant. Highly recommend the bartender, he’s very good. ”
“ Lots of great choices, hesitantly went in on chicken Cesar wrap to eat a bit more healthy, and was very glad I did. It went from being a chore to a delight, wish I could get this anywhere I go , but at least I can here. Check out the desert display even you don’t eat them. ”
“ Stopped in for lunch while staying at the Hyatt down the street for a work event. The BBQ sliders were flavorful but a bit on the dry side, still enjoyable with a nice smoky taste. Service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was comfortable enough to unwind before heading back to work. It’s a short, walkable distance from the hotel, which makes it a great option for lunch, dinner, or even breakfast—if I’m up that early. Solid food, good service, and a convenient spot worth returning to. ”
